we went outside

portrait of a five year old freak out
it was 50 something this weekend. so we went to the park. where the children ran around like a pack of wild animals. i think they were a bit dazed by things like sun, and bare ground. i was anyway. of course today is back to winter. i was grumbling to david about the stupid schizophrenic weather here and he just gave it to me straight. he said "hannah, it has been that way your whole life here. thirty one years. get over it". dang. he is right.

on a more positive note, i really have an itch to sew. and if kc can get its act together and give me even some upper 20's at night, i might actually descend to the basement to do so. did you see melissa's curtains? crap. those are good. and something that i have on my list. thanks for stealing my thunder. things also on the list are: make arlo's shirt (got collette's done months ago...), shower curtain (cant be that bad right?), summer quilt for my bed (simple people, lets keep it simple) and about a billion other things that are buzzing around up there. and i realized the other day, i hit three years blogging in december. what???!! now that is crazy. anyway, i was thinking. i have two more potholders to finish and give out (i am a bad, bad friend) and to make me get off my bum and finish them, i thought, hey why not give a third one away? yeah. that will do nicely. so, please leave your name and preferably email in the comments and i will draw a name on saturday. ok? ok.

shower curtains are definitely not too hard! the one I made a few months ago was the first totally successful thing I have EVER sewed...no mistakes! so that should speak something to its difficulty.

Those warmer days are blessings to help us cope with the cold Winter days! I am not leaving my e-address here because as a senior citizen I have a collection of way too many hot pads! :?) But, I am still waiting to see one of your knitted hats! I am actually trying to teach myself how to knit and made two scarves...not pleased with either one of them! I did just finish a crocheted afghan though and posted a picture of it on my blog!

Happy three! Put my name in for a potholder, please.

As much as I get annoyed with the schizo weather, it certainly is nice to get a break from winter once in a while. I'm all for walks and park visits in January!

Delurking to say happy 3rd anniversary and please put my name in the hat for the potholder!!
I always have at least 20 projects in my head that I'm gonna get to real soon. Ha! Anyway, if you're thinking about making a traditional sort of quilt, I highly recommend "Sweet and Simple Baby Quilts" by Mary Hickey. Cute patterns that can be used for any quilt, not just baby quilts and the instructions are GREAT! I just finished my very first quilt ever out of that book and it went together so easy and turned out great. You just have to increase the number of blocks to get a full size quilt of course.

Crazy weather indeed. The rain today feels downright springish. Happy three years. I'm happy to have found your little blog. And as for a shower curtain, one of my favorite projects was adding 14" of contrast fabric, some wide ricrac and grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of a white waffle weave premade one... easy and still very custom-made. Have fun.

3 years, wow! Congrats.
I am new to your blog...lots to explore here. I've got tons of projects in my head too at all times. My body wants me to slow down though with 6 weeks left of my 2nd pregnancy and a house to find since we sold our place. My brain is fighting with my body.
Homemade pot holders sound nice.
PS. I got the Tova shirt from Jenny. So nice. i can't wait to wear it once I get this baby out.
Cheers
xx

we've had the weather thing going on here, too. one day the kids are in spring jackets and the next day i'm talking until i'm blue in the face about why they can't wear that jacket again today because it's the middle of january and it's winter and it's too cold even though yesterday felt like spring.

and happy third!
