sometimes i forget how much i like museums. as a geeky 11 year old, my favorite book was From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. did you read this book?? oh my. claudia and her little brother run away from home and live in the met in new york. she packed her clothes in her violin case (i played violin!! err...at least i faked it) and they took baths in the fountains and collected coins for food, solved an art mystery. oh my little heart was swooning. but anyway, i digress. i have always had a love of museums and was so sad to miss out on the goodness minneapolis had to offer. our main day there was monday, and sadly everything was closed, but we did take a stroll in the sculpture garden at the walker art center. it was great and of course we had to take pictures of the spoon & cherry. of course. we consoled ourselves with food and wine. so dont feel bad. i feel the itch to sew, which i hope to satisfy soon. although, a friend just loaned me the new harry potter. hmmm. i feel a battle of past times coming on. i made a new discovery on flickr this weekend, sixwordstory. so great. i have already submitted my first two, furthering my flickr addiction.
I read that book! I had totally forgotten about it! Man I wonder what other books I am forgetting about from when I was a kid? It seems like every few years I reread on of my childhood favorites. I've always wondered if I am the only dork who does that?
I LOVED that book!! I always loved reading, but that book really did it for me...I remember being so caught up in the story... I "played" the violin as well, but I was too bad to even fake it.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that book. I've been trying to buy all my childhood books again, and will have to put this on the list. I think they made a movie of this one, too.
I feel like most of my tween books were about kids in NYC. Still never been there but I feel like I have (the 13-year-old's NYC).
just david and me. just for two nights. and it was just perfect. sleeping, eating, movies, no kids. all good things in small doses right? this pola is deceiving as it was not from our trip, but pics to come soon. i am working out a little scheme with meg. mwah ha ha.... actually, not evil at all, as i can positively say without having met the girl that she is the sweetest. i had hoped to have coffee with twoladies, but it didnt end up working out. next time. but i am regrouped and ready to receive august. yipes! almost ready...
habitat is having an online only sale! yes i am advertising on my blog. yes they are my good friends. yes i love shoes. i see no problem with any of this.
ack -I went over to the habitat site, fell in love with some shoes, they were on sale + the coupon and.... they don't have my size! The story of my life. (they're the ones in the center of the coupon photo -LOVE)
i see no problem either. such a cute ad. i'm off shoe shopping. oh wait a minute... probably the last thing i need to be doing. but still, i see no problem. :)
three kids, a spray park, sunset and a roll of film. ten minutes and i am spent. fun for everyone. isnt summer great?? and tell me who in the whole wide world cant get behind lens flares? seriously. pretty much the coolest thing ever. dang.
Man, Hannah, you've been the photo queen lately. They're awesome...keep 'em coming. I like the new banner. And I'm not just saying that b/c I want you to help me put a new one on my blog (although that is a hint that I would like you to help me put a new one on my blog).
I almost missed the banner too, in my impatience to scroll down and see the photos again. Man, hannah, with this kinds of film photos how will you EVER go back to digital. will you come take pictures of my children. please?
lots of blue in my life right now. maybe i should say dark teal or deep bluegreen? anyway, i am loving it, and mustard. the color. i love the food too, but the color is what is driving me crazy at this moment. speaking of color, how fun was last week? and who knew i had that many shoes in different colors? well. i did, but you probably didnt. anyway, i had lots of fun and i hope you did too. and yes, apart from the pink heels (this strikes me as funny) i wear them all quite frequently. oh, exclude eliot's orange flip flops and arlo's blue chucks. two colors i need to get into my repertoire soon. not much going on right now on the crafting front. i have been shooting and scanning polaroids like a mad lady. more on that soon. but honestly friends, big changes brewing over here at huffmania. big big. scary and good and exciting all wrapped up together. and until things calm down, i dont think i can make my brain make my fingers do anything that involves skill. so instead i will keep snapping pics, reading, eating fruit and enjoying summer. how about you? i hope the summer is treating you real nice.
ps. in case you were wondering, the necklace is from the crazy talented abigail percy, and the print is from the equally crazy talented natalie. these women are awesome.
pss. did you see maria in the latest real simple??? woot woot!!
last week WAS fun - you inspired me to join in on the color week - thank you for that! looking forward to hearing about your big scary and good changes ahead :)
Looking forward to hearing about the big changes, too. Hope they are all ones you've been dreaming of. That necklace is, indeed, absolutely perfect. I bookmarked her store. I enjoy your blog- color week was inspiring.
we won't be discussing details on the blog, right hannah? however, if you want to follow the drama, search my name on IMDb and click on the one with (VII) next to it.
the necklace is perfect on you:) I am also liking blue/green these days -my new tags are that color:) and I'm excited for you -change is good, even if it is scary.
Hannah, is this really you? I've never seen this adorable skirt (dress?) or those cotton candy pink HEELS? You look adorable...well, at least the bottom half of you does. Enjoyed the color week of shoes!
what is it about this picture??! I love it! and I've got to know how you get your cute feet shots. do you secretly have a photographer that follows you around? or are you just a master with your timer?
Hello! I just stumbled on your blog today (it's gorgeous!) How could I have never seen it? I had to laugh when I saw your recipe box, because I made the same thing on my blog a few months ago! And we both took pictures of our own tin boxes too.....and I thought I had come up with such a unique idea, (ha ha!) Anyway, I love your blogs and I will surely be back to visit!
i have some learning to do. this polaroid thing isnt as easy as it looks. inspired today by eshu's lovely lovely diptych. mmmm. as always, shoes from habitat.
oh my favorite campers! the black ones are so cute. i agree with liz. trial and error. i find that i love the shots that i take outdoors without a flash. indoors without a flash is really tricky unless you have some serious light. xox
yes. just what i needed this week. thank you andrea for kicking off a great week. a full seven days no less. and i second the notion that yellow was invented to start the day off right. amen. of course i couldnt resist the newest bit of yellow in my life. feel free to join in this week.
hard to believe. yes? thank you friends for all the birthday wishes and well wishes. i only hurt if one of my bruises receives direct pressure, which sadly happens often with three children in the house. crazy weekend ahead. david will be pulling late nights with last minute editing for the documentary he has been producing, so i imagine we will see little of him. first friday tonight. habitat will be rockin' a concert and sidewalk sale if you are interested. and why wouldnt you be? and just because, i thought i would sneak in some friday flickr favorites. it really is where i spend the bulk of my time online. i heart flickr. and i heart color too.
good. real good. new shoes, new museum, thai, and a movie with my favorite person, makes for a really great day. what isnt so good is falling down the back steps the next day and spending three days in bed with the hot water bottle. but today mostly feel like i am thirty one again and not the shuffling 81 i was over the weekend. a couple bruises and a back ache later and things are back to normal. it is a good thing that it would be completely improper to post a picture of my bum because it has a huge disgusting black bruise on it right now. awesome. anyway. i would like to say happy birthday to the two lovely mcclain ladies, and happy birthday to vikkie in eight days.
your birthday sounds lovely. i also saw paris je t'aime on my birthday. hee hee. adore your yellow saltwaters. so sorry about your fall but am glad you are feeling better. hugs!
youch!! i've had huge painful bruises on the top backs of my legs from stupidly jumping off a cliff into water in a sitting position (not on purpose, of course) and that was super uncomfortable, but at least there were slight ways around it. hopefully, you're over the worst and made it through work yesterday without wanting to shoot anyone. :)
You always have the cutest colored shoes, the green ones, and now these yellow ones. I'm wondering what you wear with them; what's on the top half of your body? I lean heavily on black shoes, and I look longingly at colored shoes, but never know how to pull it off.
glad you had a great day:) we did too. Hopefully your bottom is much better by now -maybe it was a subliminal message that you needed a good 3-day bed rest for your birthday:)

Well in a pinch, I suppose wine will substitute for a good museum romp :-) I'm going to have to check out that book!

the walker is someplace i REALLY want to visit.
I LOVED that book!! I always loved reading, but that book really did it for me...I remember being so caught up in the story... I "played" the violin as well, but I was too bad to even fake it.

I loved that book, too! I think they turned it into a cute movie. and that sixwordstory is just too neat. Oh, I like your new banner.

I saw this picture and before reading your entry, knew that it had to be from the sculpture gardens in Minneapolis... (I used to live there.) :)
Love that spoon!
