self portrait tuesday

i am going to give this a go, but starting out with an old childhood picture. i really enjoy reading stephanie's posts on tuesday, and she always has such lovely pictures, that i am inspired to give it a try. this is a picture of me from the winter of 77, i was about 18 months old. im wearing a pink knit dress that my great grandmother in bogota made for me, and apparently im loving it. the best part about this picture, is the fast forward 28 years to the picture below. my mom found this and a few other knitted treasures from my childhood and took some pictures of collette. i just sit and stare at these two pictures and can hardly believe the similarity. it is hard to tell from my washed out seventies picture that this is the same dress, but i promise it is.

hannah, i had no idea that you were so interested in canadian immigration. :)

i was so confused when i first opened this post because i thought for sure that that was collette in the first picture...but it looked so old. i can't believe how much she looks like you! what an amazing thing for your mom to have saved that dress for both her daughter and grand-daughter. i love it!

i don't know how to handle the fact that i married one of those girls and co-created the other. it knocks me off balance.

i do notice, however, how the photographic head room has evolved over the years.

BTW - if you say "johnnycanuck" really fast, in a steady rhythm, it sounds like a train passing in the distance.

what a fun comparison! that dress is awesome. it makes me want to save all of margot's clothes for her (potential) daughter b/c i don't have any of my stuff for her. there's no denying your claim on that girl.

Both pictures are so cute, and it's nice that you are wearing the same dress! Saving stuff can be a really good thing.

That's so cool! I too like everyone else thought at first that it was a picture of Collette. Neat! :)
