yellow makes me happy. it just does. lots of yellow glowing all over town makes me immensely happy. having track seven running through my head also makes me happy*. that's all. happy thursday.
*i just had to come back here and post the lyrics to that song because even if you don't listen to it, the words are great.
Up an early for the hope of a brand new day See a homie you ain't seen since back in the day Fresh haircut fitted wit a fat ass fade End of work, we chilling on a Saturday How you felt when you first heard the data came Rakim KRS hey I had that tape Cooling out with ol girl on a fat ass date Find a hundred dollar bill wow man that's great Get promoted at your job up to management Plot a long time finally a plan has made it Time I feel I wanna shout, man its real that way Wanna think of things that make you feel that way
Make you feel that way
Christmas day when your mamma got your first bike Type of feeling when you went and when your first fight How your team felt winning championship games Celebrate in a huddle dancing in this rain Have a thought see a shooting star cross your screen Put in hard work finally your living your dream Deaf man get his hearing now in come vibes Blind man get sight see his first sunrise Dumb man speaking out, now he's load and clear Earth through your chout smile so proud ya wear Going in your third eye for the styles ya hear Making music that'll bump for a thousand years Eating right feeling conscience like health is first Said a prayer that's sincere and you felt it work Times I feel I wanna shout, man it's real that way When I'm thinking things that make you feel that way
Make you feel that way
All up in her vibe something coming over me Summer days more likely that you notice breezes Winter days more likely that you notice heat When I'm warm more likely that you notice me In the dark it's more likely that you notice light In the light more likely that you notice night Hungry more appreciation for that meal Dead broke more appreciation for that grill A bad day'll make you really notice ones that's good And that'll make things a little better understood Times I feel I wanna shout, man it's real that way When I think of things that make you feel that way Make you feel that way...
Make you feel that way
"...Ya know its like ahh like the most greatest feeling you could ever feel you like just total illation. Sunny day, just that day. You know its just like you know just the most joyous feeling you could ever comprehend. You know, chilling with your family. You know just you know just really really feeling, feeling the moment, with the folks. Ya know really really really just chilling. It's love. It's love. It's love..."
may be hard to find, so they say. i contend a good man who makes good cookies, is even harder to find. and if you do find one, count your lucky stars. i'm ready for the weekend, how about you all?
these are great pics. it's nice see men be domestic. luckily, i have a good one too. he doesn't bake cookies, but he builds me beautiful furniture...i think that qualifies...
Mine can't make cookies, but he's extraordinary. "good men" must be the theme of the week...I just wrote a post for tomorrow about my husband, then saw this and another, and shutter sisters' recent post!
Hello Hannah! It has been a long time since I have been on here! I though of you today. A few days ago a friend recommended a site I could go to for help with a knitting project I was having trouble with. It turns out there is a waiting line to get signed up on the site. I finally was able to see it today. As I went through some of it I thought, "This looks like a place Hannah would love!" Maybe you have heard of it. www.ravelry.com Enjoy!
there is a lot of kansas. sometimes i forget that fact, living on the very right hand side of it. i love those long flat swaths of yellow, i couldn't keep my eyes away from them. or the camera. people like to say there is nothing in the middle of kansas, but that's not true at all. i found trains, power lines, windmills and cows, all four which compliment the flat grasslands quite nicely. we went to see molly, ever so briefly, yesterday in oklahoma city for a book signing. there was talk of getting chocolate malts at braum's, but a little girl with a fever made for a change of plans. as david said, there's always something when you've got three kids involved. despite the fever (and motrin and tylenol and pedialyte) it was nice to get away for a bit.
these photos are just breathtaking. I love large landscapes. My trip to Marfa, Texas, which is in western texas, was the first time I experienced a landscape that seemed to go on forever. It was incredible. How fun to go see Molly too. I wish her book tour would come to minneapolis. Fevers raging here too....hope the rest of the bunch doesn't get it.
LOVE love love Kansas landscapes! Of course, I am biased, since I live here too, butI have lived on both coasts and I still think Kansas is the most beautiful.
your photos gave me a big smile, I have really good memories of the first time I ever visited Kansas and saw all that flat and wide. It blew me away. I'm so glad you got to see Molly, hope all are fever free very soon.xo
great photo hannah! i'm reminded of turntables and my dream of being a dj. thoroughly enjoyed the story as well. i almost wish it was audible, you know? wouldn't that be cool:)
this spring i will relish in the rains and delight in the flowers.
i will take more walks, with my family and by myself. i will find something i never noticed before.
this spring we will find a new place in our city to enjoy, to make our own, so that when we visit, it will be with a sense of comfortable fondness.
this spring i will go to the farmer's market, get excited about all the young new vegetables, and get ready for the foods summer brings.
this spring i will try to find a local source for beef and poultry.
i'll lay a blanket in the yard and rest. listen to the little sounds coming from the ground, and the loud sounds coming from the kids.
i will get to know my neighbors better. do things like bring baked goods. because baked goods make everyone happy.
this spring i will drop in on old friends. a porch sit here, a sit on the steps there, and talk about how the weather has been, sipping a cold glass of something.
i will wash my windows! think long and hard about repainting my kitchen and making little things for the house.
this spring i'll clean out the closets, take those clothes and things that we never use to people who can use them.
this spring (and summer and fall and winter) i'll make an effort to find something, some tiny thing good about each and every day.
thank you shari, for the inspiration, that felt good.
oooo, i know a great local source for beef and poultry (and eggs, and pork) they sell at several farmers markets around town... i think that they deliver too!! they are a super sweet family. let me know if you want the info (i dont want to post their #'s here..)
I have a great source for local meat - I bought myself a quarter of a cow last summer! He also sells chickens, but I haven't had the chance to try those. I will be going to the market all spring/summer long, so just let me know if you want company. Soak it all in, Hannah. Seasons are good.
wow, that's so beautiful - especially the truly delicious-sounding blanket lounging... thank you for the nudge to make my intentions for the elusive spring, clear, so that i know what to do with it when it finally reaches london!
our little family is very happy right now. warm breezes, sunshine, snacks and bare feet. i tore down the plastic covering the windows, opened the blinds and did a happy dance. you think i'm joking, but i very much promise you i am not. other happy things to share with you today: a visual feast of books (i can't stop looking) my best friend åsmund (doesn't he look great as a penguin?) a chemex date (and brunch, yum) what's making you happy right now?
...definitely the weather ...road trip with Toby ...thin mint ice cream ...the red wine martini at The Drop (I want to go there for happy hour like every day now) ...Lent
