this boy

eliot
this is a boy who takes a fedora camping. this is a boy who promised to find a piece of gold for his sister to make her feel better because she didn't get to go camping. this is a sweet boy.

eliot was bitten on the finger by a massasagua rattlesnake sunday morning while camping. after many many doctors, many doses of antivenin, we are home safe again. he is doing well. his body systems are good, now we are dealing with the long process of healing his finger. time will tell if and how badly the venom damaged his sub-tissues, (if you feel up to it, you can click here and here to see photos of his finger) we of course are hoping that it did not, but even if it did, we are happy to have eliot back at home with us. thank you kind friends for all your support and prayers and help. we love you greatly and feel your love in return. eliot says he is feeling better and doesn't want you to think his arm is broken just because he is wearing a sling. this boy. i love this boy.

{thank you donna for sharing your picture}

ok, hannah. I need details like: where was he camping? and was he poking at it or anything? how did you know it was a rattlesnake? did somebody catch/kill it?

(you can email me if you have time.)

we're campers, you know, and this is my secret fear. that something like this will happen to my littles.

just ask

just ask
i have a little secret. i've been doing custom prints. i know. scandalous right? shocking. actually it has been delightful. shari started it, and then i did two for shanna. well actually sally started it, when she asked me to make 8x10's for her after i came to visit. and i thought to myself, i can't do that. what if my print looks like crap that big? and then i heard david in my brain saying, what's the big deal? just do it. so i did. and it was fun. then i made a big family print for melissa. and that was even more fun, because it was a surprise. and it was really really hard to keep my mouth shut until it showed up at her house. anyway all that to say, just ask. anything in my film set (with the obvious exceptions of pictures of the huffsters) i can print, in just about any size. seriously. give me time to track down the negative (i just bought binders and plan on organizing soon) and we can work out price. size. mat. glossy. whatever. just ask.

a polaroid day

a polaroid day
saturday was a polaroid day. i got my copy of the for the love of light book in the mail. it is so very good. thank you jen for all your hard work. go buy one. you won't regret it. aaaaand my friend kerry found a polaroid colorpack land camera at a garage sale for $2. then she gave it to me. thank you kerry. i can't wait to get started with pack film. so now my head is filled with polaroid sugar plums. if that is possible. speaking of plums, my friend vikkie had a birthday and we celebrated with smores and cherry pie. not at the same time of course. tomorrow or wednesday i plan on talking business. but it should be good talk, i promise.

now that i'm 32

film.268
um, i feel pretty much the same. funny how that works, isn't it? life has been pretty full lately. which is good and bad, full of both i guess. yesterday i ate three peaches in a row. i put that firmly in the good category. also in that category goes eating frozen custard and discussing life and god with four of my favorite women. and seeing a friend, home from sudan for nine days, ever so briefly. good. summer rain. good. radishes with salt. very good. so actually, maybe there isn't so much bad after all. and i love food. and summer. are you loving summer?

Huh, yeah, now that I think of it, I am hveing a pretty good summer too. Funny how when you think there are bad's happening, you think back and most things are really goods?

I love your blog...I'm a Kansas girl too!
