yep thats right. six weeks yesterday. crazy huh? i have been in ultra cuddle mode with arlo for the past week and a half because on monday i go back to work. oh and because i love my baby. i cant get enough of the eating of the cheeks and the burying of the nose in her sweaty little neck. i think she has slept on my chest the past four or five nights. i love me some baby cheeks and arlos are progressing along nicely. mama's milk is good for that. and putting rolls on legs and arms. yum, yummy! i have also dragged out the ole' suckin' machine. nice huh? it wouldnt be so bad if i was stock piling for dates with david or fun nights out with friends, but it kinda sucks to waste all of this sweet freedom on work.pun intended... oh well.
on the crafting front, things are pretty slow right now. i am still stumped by the car seat cover that i started making. i like to try to just make things up instead of actually learning how to construct clothes or things in 3D, which i find results in a piles of half finished projects that make me mad. so the cover is still sitting in a heap in the living room floor and my sewing machine has been collecting dust these past weeks. that doesnt keep me from having visions of matching easter dresses for arlo and collette, a new diaper bag, book bag, maybe a stylish tote for me. i can create like mad in my head, its the getting around to actually trying that is killing me. to add insult to injury our digital camera just broke. i think because a little gnat flew up into the lens mechanism and now the lens wont extend. it will turn on to view pics on the memory card, but if i try to turn it to picture taking mode it just freaks out and turns off. awesome. so what is the point of making anything if i cant take pictures and rant about totally pointless details on my blog? just kidding. maybe i can get eliots $17 piece of junk digital camera to work. wouldnt that be funny?
i actually got out of bed today at a somewhat civilized hour. 8:11 to be exact. im not sure if this is going to help much considering that come monday i will have been sitting at my desk for about fifteen minutes by 8:11. ouch. that is going to be a toughie. the only plus i can really see about this whole thing is that i will have all day on the computer to look at blogs and send email again. that is pretty exciting. if only i could convince them to let me come to work in my fleecy pants and flipflops.
this is turning into a pretty random post. which i must admit is the way my brain has been functioning as of late. i plan to trek to target for the third time in two days because i can never seem to remember what items i need to purchase until i get back home without them. you might be thinking, take a list hannah. um. well. i do. see what i mean? its pretty bad. this three kids thing really saps your brain power. at least it has mine. david informed me this morning that collette has no diapers in the house what so ever. oops. luckily he found a few of eliots old diapers stuffed in the very back of the closet. so collette is wandering around with an oversized diaper at the moment. im guessing there will be some sort of blow out or leakage pretty soon. diapers for collette are on the top of todays target list for sure.
huffmania did manage to collect itself together and make it down to columbia to visit clark and kerry last weekend. for an overnight trip with three kids it was pretty fun! always great to visit with the eddys. actually got to see the famed magic show courtesy of their neighbor peter. a bit timid but fun nonetheless. i think three huffsters was a little taxing for kerry, but she did great for the first extended visit. we wont mention the cake that she made with eliot and collette, but to say that flour is indeed a key ingredient in baking. hee hee... love you kerry! ok, david just chastised me for writing a novel of a post. sheesh. more to come on regular basis next week. promise.
You gotta love a good nurser! She's so cute and chubby.
Look forward to more posts- but no pressure. You've got to feel swamped. Just remember, a stranger across town is cheering you on! Good luck next week.
As for catching up with blogs at work! Isn't that wonderful?! Well, my work has banned all xanga, blogger, and now FLICKR sites -- I get a big "Access Denied" screen in bright pink. Harumpf!
And I had forgotten about the two in diapers. We did that. It's kinda nuts, huh?
And mama of three brain?! I have it too. I've been know to call people and then forget mid-ring why I was calling. Very fun!
arlo is so edgy. i love her new shirt! where did you get it? it is hard for me to believe she is one month old. it seems like yesterday when i was sitting on the porch & you told me about her...
Aww. I didn't use to care for babies, but now that I have one of my own, I cannot get enough. I love seeing other people's babies and get all nostalgic if they're younger or excited for the future if they're older than ours. She's only 9 weeks old ...
we spent the better part of today enjoying the nice weather, cleaning up the yard and looking for treasures. eliot found some. we also had a picnic lunch on the porch followed by our first official porch sit of 2006. missed you eddys today... arlo is definitely one of us as she just chilled on the porch swing for the better part of an hour. this has tripled my level of spring fever and which will almost certainly bring one more bout of cold weather to kc. until that happens i am determined to frighten as many passersby with my blindingly white feet (broke out the flip flops today). few more pics on flickr, dont worry, none of my feet...
the flowers are beautiful hannah! you have the best yard. are the trees blooming yet? man, those trees are awesome. the eddys were very sad to miss the porch sit. maybe we can all sit on our driveway in a few weeks, does that count?
our friend shannon invited us over to her house last week to take some pictures of the kids. she is in the process of starting her own photography business and we were so lucky to be her "guinea pigs". i put a few of them on flickr, so take a peek. thank you so much shannon! they are all so wonderful i think i will order them all!
SHUT UP! this is too much! what a great picture. and i love the picture of eliot, so great. and strong man. i just can't handle it. shannon did a great job! i'm so glad they turned out so good!
and three kids. wow. these last three weeks have flown by, especially when i think about having to go back to work in another three. bleh. i have actually spent a few days all alone with all three huffsters myself. it wasnt nearly as scary as i thought it was going to be.
i have discovered that it is a scientific certainty that while i am nursing arlo; a. someone will spill something b. someone will get hurt c. someone wont share their toys d. someone else will cry about it and what can i do about it? sit on the couch with a baby attached to me and watch the newest drama unfold in front of me. apparently my voice alone doesnt carry much comfort or authority. hmm.
i have yet to try to go anywhere with all three by myself. im not sure when that is going to happen. leslie? amanda? any word on this? i thought about going to the grocery store on monday but thats about as far as it got. the thinking stage.
but enough about kids, lets talk about presents! some more goodies arrived in the mail last week! this wee bunny came to live at our house compliments of the ever talented hillary. much too cute for arlo to handle right now, or ever maybe...
a wonderful surprise package from giao with goodies for mom and baby. and this beautiful hand-painted canvas which will hang perfectly above the crib so unbelievably sweet. i love the little bird!
last night arlo and i went to the airport to pick up kerry. and lucky us she found some wonderful thrift stores while visiting with her grandma in olympia. who could pass up this little friend? yeah, i wouldnt have been able to pass it up either.
thank you so much for the wonderful gifts. it really is amazing all the love that is in this blog community!
3 is definitely the tricky number... run out of hands, run out of parents, run out of seats in the double stroller. The insanity doesn't last too long though. :) Such sweet gifts.
so glad the new huffster is doing well and recieving sweet gifts. from someone who used to baby-sit 3, allow yourself at least 20 minutes to get out the door and don't have your mind completely set on accomplishing your task.
arlo has been thinking. she said to me this morning, "mom, its about time you took some photos of the cool gifts i have received. oh and my faux-hawk..." today was another beautiful day, and according to my atomic clock it was 79 degrees!! we spent a bunch of time outside. eliot and collette burned through two bottles of bubbles. mostly due to the numerous times collette knocked them over. and i finally, finally managed to take some pictures in good light. take a look at these teeny, tiny baby converse that leslie made for arlo. kinda makes your brain hurt to think about all those itty bitty crochet stitches, not to mention how cute they are! and they came with a sweet little dress and hat in a strawberry print. thank you so much leslie!
and dearest kerry. my wonderful friend. she made the most beautiful quilt for arlo and i am in love with it. here is a close up of one the squares.
oh i just love looking at it! she used some of our favorite 30s reproduction prints. who doesnt love the 30s??? you can read her post here, and see a picture of it in action here. i just cant get over the fact that she made this. i have a paralyzing fear of quilts. i dont know why, but it makes me that much more in awe of kerry. you are the best! and thank you everyone for all the cute clothes for arlo. she appreciates having some of her own things too along with the handmedowns from big sister. as soon as she gets big enough to wear some of them, i will take some pictures!
and very, very, very much overdue are some pictures of a gift that collette received from the amazing teri in january. teri emailed me out of the blue and wanted to send me some hairclips for collette, just because! and they are fabulous!! the detail and hand stitching is amazing! tiny cherries! if you know any little girl or want to wear them yourself (i do!), proceed immediately to giddygiddy.com and place an order. thank you so, so much teri. sorry it took so long to get these taken! there are more pictures on flickr of some of the other styles, modeled so nicely by collette of course.
so tomorrow we are going to our friend shannons house to attempt some family pictures. keep your fingers crossed!
Found your site through Soulemama a few months ago and I'm really enjoying it. Congrats on the new baby! She's a beauty. I LOVE her name too. Have you seen this: www.jenville.com/pleasures/uncleliamshow.html
I debated if I should send the link. If you love it as much as I do, then GREAT. If you don't like it, you might get stuck singing the song. Anyway, had to share and keep up the terrific blogging!
