today was a beautiful day in kansas city. our party of five decided to tackle a trip to the park. it took us about twice as long to get everyone wrangled and in the car. i guess that is to be expected, right? i took some pictures and put them on flickr. a few new ones of arlo as well. its nice to get some good light finally!
i am feeling wonderful. should i make you all hate me and say that i am back into my regular jeans? dont hate me too much. please. as david has pointed out to me today, my sweet tooth has returned with a vengeance. those jeans might not make it too long, there might be some yo-yo'ing in my future. gotta love that breastfeeding though. sure makes a difference, although im pretty sure a whole bag of twizlers (the BIG bag) is not what the medical community had in mind for the 500 extra calories a day that i am supposed to be consuming. or the cupcake, or brownie, or key lime fruit-a-freeze bars... did i say something about a sweet tooth? hmmm....
my new theory on having three kids is that by already having spent so much energy chasing two around, you somehow are less exhausted after labor and delivery. or maybe its more like your body has already been making due on less sleep so it doesnt really notice much of a difference. i have to say that i have been most fortunate in all the help we have received. wonderful, wonderful sarah has taken the time to coordinate 11 meals for our family from various friends. 11, can you believe that??? im never going to want to cook again! every other evening a hot meal delivered to the door and oh they have been delicious! and kristen has set up a standing play date for collette and margot on mondays. and dear, dear, david. he really is a super husband and father, getting eliot and collette up and fed so that arlo and i can sleep in. those morning sleep hours are always the best, arent they?
i have managed to find some time to even work on a few projects! can you believe it? if all goes as planned i should have some photos by the end of the week. keep your fingers crossed! although, things might slow down now that sarah stopped by today to give me this... should i admit that i have already watched it twice today? im such a secret romantic...
i'm so glad you are enjoying your time w/ all your sweet little ones. we all knew you would be in your jeans after 2 weeks. doesn't it feel nice? keep the pictures coming on flickr, we miss you!!
Mondays are becoming Margot and I's favorite days! Time with Collette should be the prescription for anyone having a bad Monday. Oh, and you better call me the next time you watch P&P -- secret romantics unite!
love the flickr photos. love pride & prejudice. love the huff-five. and now, i'm giving you an assignment - send me a cool photo of you in your thai shirt. :) and ones of you & david in your green coats. :) cheers.
i was going to post some more pics on flickr but it is already time to change a diaper, nurse again, and my bum is sore. this computer chair is hard!! thank you all so much for your sweet comments! they mean so much to us! we feel very loved. and to our kc friends, a million thank yous for all the wonderful meals. you are spoiling us rotten. besides, how am i going to begin my shrinking process this way??? so many blessings in this house it is hard to keep the old eyes dry these days...
i've been anxiously awaiting an update from you--so glad to have one so soon! Oh, but you must be TIRED. Sleep, my friend, sleep while you can. And enjoy every minute of these first days. So amazing. So amazing!
As unbeautiful as you might feel, the feelings of new baby are beautiful. thanks for the honest portrait. I have a similar one of me and my daughter, Eden. And I had sideburns, ewwww.
Hi and concrats on your wonderful achievement, your craft creations are lovely and so are your human ones! Found your blog last week and enjoying it immensely.
so happy for you all. we'll all be praying for the little Arlo to do fine and dandy these next few weeks. And also for big sister to love being in the middle. God bless!!
Hooray!!! Welcome to sweet, sweet Arlo (gosh, I loooove that name), and congratulations to the rest of you! Enjoy every minute of these early days getting to know each other!!
Arlo is even better in person. She exceeded my expectations. The first thing Eliot said when he got up this morning was "Sarah, I am going to have a baby today." The Huffmans are even cooler with three! Congratulations.
i am so freaking jealous of everyone living in kansas city. i cannot wait to meet arlo. i love the new family photo - and eliot and collette holding their new sister? too much. i don't think i will ever stop saying "too much" in regard to huffmania. i'm a huge fan.
congratulations! arlo. so cool. and she is beautiful. i can't wait to meet her! way to go huffmans, you did it again. i'm not sure the world can take it.
thanks a ton for sharing the brightest news of the day david! send my love to h. and the kiddos. i may say too often that i am truly blessed to be a witness/receipient of a treasure like the huffman fam! prayers flying your way.
well hannah, you have proven for the third time that you and David are amazing crafters! well done with beautiful little Arlo! she's a perfect little bundle!
i am lucky to have three sweet valentines to celebrate with today, david, eliot and collette. i am even more lucky to be meeting my newest sweet girl tomorrow. my midwife is going to be breaking my water in the morning and everything should move along quickly from there judging from the amount of contractions i have had all weekend. not necessarily the most romantic of thoughts for today, but it sure is putting a spring in my step! have a wonderful day!
Oh my goodness! Well, congrats to you and your sweet little Valentines miracle. I have a little February baby and she makes Valentines all the sweeter. Break a leg tomorrow!
oh my! wasn't expecting to read that on your blog today. hope all goes smoothly tomorrow. i look forward to finally knowing the name and seeing the face. :) sad to miss being there to welcome the new huffster.
yesterday i was mega grumpy at work and i did the unthinkable, i brought it home with me. luckily it only lasted about twenty minutes once i got home and de-corporatefied myself. later in the evening though as i was wandering around the house, i decided to snap some pics of things that make me smile right now. of course david and the kids count, but these are just some little things. kind of along the lines of lisa's seven things she is loves. mav's golden tree. everyone is posting theirs, i thought i would join in because its so stinking beautiful, why not look at it again??
shiny yellow vinyl lemon. whats not to like?
target. 12 dollars. baby blue and flowers. enough said.
beautiful green pin from my grandmas fabulous collection. i also have the matching set of clip-on earrings!
beautiful kenyan school girl named misume. photo sent to me courtesy the most excellent toby.
i need some smiles right now, help yourself to a few!
i think a new little huffman baby will make me smile too! :) i like these things as well. especially the picture of the kenyan school girl. i love the colors & how carefree she is.
it seems like the only crafting i can manage to do right now is last minute gifts. granted it is getting harder for me to sew as i cant get close enough to my machine. belly issues. i made a very, very, very fast tote for one of the ladies at papersource. we did a post holidays party a few weeks ago. it was fun to make. all floppy and simple, like the batch that amanda whipped up a while ago. the beautiful floral fabric came from a swap with sweet kelly. it was hard for me to cut into it. so pretty. but i am trying to overcome my cutting anxieties. i cant wait until spring so i can start sewing like mad. little baby things and cute summer dresses for collette. and if im lucky, a skirt or two for myself!
thank you all for your sweet belly comments. im ready to meet this little girl. i think she has a lot of sass, based upon the amount of kicking she is doing. also i have so many thank yous and pictures to post (soon teri, soon!).
hannah, the fact that you not only make time to sew, but feel like sewing, when you are probably days away from giving birth makes me feel like more of a slacker than i already do! very fun tote...i'm sure the recipient loved it. i can't wait to see all the goodness you whip up this summer!
and three centimeters. im probably jinxing myself by posting this, but my midwife thinks that this baby is ready to come out any day now. she has dropped, im losing weight, already dilated...all signs are pointing to us NOT making it until february 25th. im all for it! eliots birthday is past, we washed collettes baby clothes, put the bassinet in our room. all we need now is another little girl. i will keep you posted. few more belly shots over on flickr.
Wow!! I can't believe how close you are. This pregancy has flown by (for me! Ha!!).... ANd you look simply gorgeous. Can't WAIT for the news of your new sweetie!!!! xox...
oh hannah and david, i'm so happy for you and the rest of your beautiful little fam. i hope and pray all goes well as the newbie makes her way into this world. maybe she'll wait until the 14th, wouldn't that be a special valentine? peacenlove
eliots birthday was sunday. and this kid, he celebrated all weekend. pretty good move on his part. friday was pizza and cake at my parents house. ive never seen a kid eat pizza so fast... saturday was a party at our house with a few of his friends. i did manage to make some rocket ship beanbag streamers and they were a big hit! thanks amanada! all the kids got a mission file packet that looked a little something like this. everything a kid could need to prepare for outer space. food and music, right? sunday was much more low key. presents from mom and dad, dinner at our favorite dumpling house and watching the imax space dvds that we rented for the party. all topped off with eliots favorite thing, a passion fruit bubble tea. i would say he had a fabulous weekend, and i think he would agree. happy birthday my sweet, happy boy!
who can believe he is 4? it seems like yesterday when he arrived during ice disaster 2002. i'd like to listen to eliot's spacey music. happy birthday little friend.
love the surfer shirt, esp. since he told me when i called that he couldn't wait to go surfering - and teach me how, too! :) love the kid. glad he had such a great bday wknd.
