I love the way you've reflected on the year in a single photo each month--sometimes (often) pictures say more than words ever could. Each year we live is important! Here's to a great 2009.

serious

ah yes
first i want to say thank you so much to our friends and family for coming out to support david saturday and sunday. the event was spectacular! for me the best part was seeing all those kids look so proud. and of course to see david step into the spotlight for the briefest of moments. but now, now it's time to get serious. serious about christmas. i am throwing myself into it full tilt this week. i have pounds and pounds of butter, flour and sugar waiting oh so patiently for me. and paper and red envelopes and stamps, just sitting there sad and alone. well no longer! i head the call. i say boo to you cold weather, i'll stay warm in front of the oven. if you need me, that's where you'll find me. oh and can you believe i forgot about my own blog birthday? oops. four years on december fourth! that doesn't seem right, but i checked the numbers and indeed it is. i'll probably have more to say about that once i emerge from my christmas frenzy, but for now butter beckons.

The pounds of butter made me smile -I used to have that in front of me - but I curbed my baking back to 2 pies, 1 or 2 kinds of cookies, and a cranberry coffee cake. That's it!
Since most of our relatives live in Holland, and my Christmas cards keep coming in till the end of Jan. I wait with writing/sending Christmas cards AFTER the big day. so I actually can enjoy Christmas as well as writing the cards!
A Merry Christmas to you, Jeannette

bread is good, and so is

bread is good, and so is...
well, feel free to fill in the blank. i would say, and so is: turkey, family, love, life, health, dentists, classic movies, snow (just a bit), sun, cocoa, coffee, cookies, pumpkin pie, down comforters, cheese, good cheese, lots of it, candied pecans, sisters, brothers, grandmas, grandpas, scategories, movies, i said movies, but i'll say it again, sleep, bacon, boots, soup, flannel sheets, friends... i could go on and on. it's december people! happy birthday mom. 54 never ever looked so good.

i love bread. love it. we eat it so many times a day here in norway, for breakfast and lunch and supper.
i have made several batches of hm..what is it called in english..bread rolls? well, tiny breads :) lately. a copule of weeks ago they found out i have a mild form of maternity diabetes, so i struggle to find other things to eat in the dark evenings than sweets (and believe me, that's hard this time of year!). but those bread rolls or whatever they are called + cheese = mmmmm!

as long as my bread is whole grain, it's good -LOL, But, i did make a thanksgiving list, and tried to keep it short - very different from yours. You might want to look at my blog, enjoy!

Your list covers lots of mine already but I'll say anyway: hot bread and butter, coffee, marzipan, children's cuddles, long walks with the dog and the missus, snow, blue skies, Christmas, love, forgiveness, God, truth, laughter, internet, beer at the end of a long day, BBQ, sunshine and dappled shade, chilled white wine, picnics, mountains, films

Love the composition of your photo, and also love turkey, and cookies! But I'll draw the line at snow. OH BOY, snow. I've had enough, and it's only December!
