half and half
today is december 18th. today means we have lived in california for six months. half of the year here and half in kansas city. there are days when it feels as though we have been here forever and ever. and there are days when we pine for the ease of the familiar and the comfort of old friends. but really the wonder of it all is that we keep on living and going through the days, and they are just days. and we build new ease and we build new comfort. we make new friends, and delight in visits from dear friends. and we are good. and really, what more can we ask for? not one single thing more.

I understand this to my very core. My little family moved from KC to CA a little more than nine months ago now. We have good days and bad days, laughter and tears. Each day brings a new level of emotions for at least one member of the three that makes up Us. I think the strangest part for us at this point is no snow for Christmas. We've all had such a hard time getting into the spirit without it. We never realized before how big a part that played. We're working on trying to make new traditions this year to carry us through.
Wishing you and yours a very merry holiday.
i love you in california!
Well look at you and your California kids! Save for this crazy week, the weather has been awesome! I hope that you guys are settling in more each day. . .California looks good on you guys!
isn't that the way? a new normal, out of crazy amazing different?
a huge happy new year to you and yours, Hannah.
looks just like where i grew up. i didn't miss the seasons because i thought we had them. decaying leaves in november, frost on the grass in january, and the jacarandas signaling the warm season. now that i've lived in new england for 8 years, i probably will miss the snow and the dramatic seasonal shifts, but there's much to love about the subtle changes that happen in socal. heading out there in two weeks, can't wait to see laguna canyon and the beaches.
Very beautiful family! =)
such a great collection of photos. thanks for sharing!
i love how you have captured your new life in california. beautiful.
