i have been crushing on blue so much lately, mostly navy. i guess it's time to go back to my inner prep. some more blue love for you. this photo. seriously. time zero, probably the best blues ever invented. the fact that this book has two covers, one blue one yellow. fantastic. thanks jen for the link. nothing to do with blue, but this art project blows me away.
Wow me too i love blue. specially sky blue of oxford blue. that is why most of my websites (http://www.nepal1st.com)(http://www.ocensurf.com)(http://www.clonevideos.com)has all blue colors. what them. blue is the color of peace loving caring and intelegent people i think. what else. see you.
is a good number. eliot had a follow-up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he got a clean bill of health! well ok, so the tip of his finger will probably be a bit misshapen, that's where the 0.01% comes in, but i am quite alright with that number. so is eliot. he went to school today with his finger unwrapped. i think we are officially entering the "cool" phase. last night he told me some 4th grade boys asked him if he was "the boy who got bitten by a rattlesnake". after lots of nodding and playing it cool i think he is well established as "awesome" and maybe even "brave". so here we go, hello soccer season!
your photo of his finger sure got my attention. wow. my second daughter had the tip of her thumb sliced off and sewn back on when she was 18 mos. the body has amazing healing powers. the best to you and your adventurer!
i guess life doesn't take a vacation though, does it? that's probably a good thing. we got back into town on monday and eliot started FIRST GRADE (sheesh) on thursday. and what happened wednesday? oh our car broke down. and some medical bills came in the mail. awesome. that may sound like complaining, but it's not i promise. because even though my vacation is over, i still have rolls of film to pour over, and if i get even one more shot like this one, well then that just makes things a little sweeter. my spoonful of sugar so to speak. kansas city weather has been nice to me and my dad thinks he can fix the car (inexpensively being the key, i don't doubt he can fix it). fingers crossed. so here we go, jumping back into things. i'm going to be doing some childcare this school year for a friend of the family. eliot's best friend in fact, and when i told him, i swear to you his eyes nearly popped out of his head. "you mean he's coming over here four days???", it's like little kid heaven. and i'm thinking, i can't just wing this snack thing anymore. i've got to be ready four days a week. eep. so any afterschool snack ideas are most welcome. i know you are very smart about these things. very smart. and last but not least, david filmed a small video that a friend of his entered into a contest, if you have a few minutes, please vote for him. i know we can't compete with myspace voting onslaught, but i thought we might try. happy friday people!!
Hannah (hi from another kansan...salina in fact). My kiddos love "teeth" for a snack. Slice apple, smear with peanut butter and put a few mini marshmallows on it. Pretty healthy and tasty too!
yes, it is almost that time here for us too. school starts next week. sheesh, goodbye summer. :(
i was thinking of preparing a whole lunch/snack menu because around about halfway through the year, i start feeling a bit blah with lunch ideas...
good after school snacks for us:
* hummus + carrots/pita/pretzels * peanut butter + celery/graham 8crackers/apples * fruit + yogurt * a slice of banana bread or something else fresh baked * pepperoni pinwheels (you can buy those ready-made pillsbury croissants, unroll them and add cheese, pepperoni, turkey, etc) * on the same pillsbury tip, breadsticks with marinara are yum/easy too * fresh veggies + a favorite salad dressing for dip (my guy likes cukes, carrots, grape tomatoes with annie's goddess dressing) * vanilla wafers + sliced banana * raisin toast with creme cheese * a homemade smoothie
we always like an english muffin pizza (with turkey pepperoni), soft pretzels (I'm making a bunch and freezing them), frozen berries and yogurt (these make good popsicles, too!). I'm going to try those pinwheels for lunches!
i'll add edamame to all the other great snack ideas. my girls dig those. also, if you have any martha stewart everyday food mags, there are lots of good ideas in there
I'm interested in the snack ideas too. I've made these peanut butter balls from Amy's recipe (http://happythings.typepad.com/happythings/2007/03/peanut_butter_b.html). I use one of those rice molds to make them into fun shapes.
oh! i also forgot to mention that henry is still obsessed over these rice balls that they made when he was in kindergarten at montessori... sticky rice balls, rolled in sesame seeds and dipped in soy. that snack was a huge hit with the whole class :)
afterschool snacks? heck, i need ideas for feeding myself! sticky rice balls sound so tasty. in fact, any type of food in ball/sphere form would be a hit in my household.
You love yellow and I just came across this Danish blog with beautiful yellow pictures. And then I scrolled down some more and what joy there was in the trees!
Thought of you to pass this on: http://millytulipan.blogspot.com/
thank you everyone for all the well wishes for eliot. he is doing much much better. in fact i would say he is back to his old self. his finger still has a lot of healing to do, but that's not stopping him from much. even better, it gave david and i the peace of mind to take our long planned 10 year anniversary trip. it was perfect. quite and relaxing which was just where we needed to be.
I'm so glad things settled down and you could relax. We're heade on a 10 year anniversary trip in September and I am hoping for the same thing, quiet relaxing.
really really beautiful. your photos and words continue to inspire me and i'm so glad you and david were able to get away and celebrate. and that eliot is back to his normal amazing self. happy ten.
